The Nigerian forward joined the club on a loan deal until the end of the season from French xlub Nice during the January transfer window, but has managed just two goals across all competitions since his arrival at the club.

Moffi’s scoreless streak extended to five games during the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Europa League last Thursday.

He came off later in the second half, but was booed by a section of the home supporters after missing several goalscoring chances in the encounter.

Porto will now face Estoril Praia in the league on Sunday, before heading to England for the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final encounter on Thursday.

Farioli defends Moffi’s form

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash, Farioli expressed satisfaction with the contributions of Moffi to the team and believes the forward will rediscover his form and lead the club to success ahead of the run-in this season.

“In the match against Nottingham, there was a moment of some frustration, but he’s trying his best, working hard in recent months”, Farioli said.

“He’s on the right track, he’s already scored important goals for us and more will come.

“The frustration and emotion of the moment must remain in that moment; the Porto family must be united and undoubtedly support the team, showing that all the players are focused on what’s best for FC Porto”, he concluded.

Porto will hope to increase their lead at the top of the league standings on Sunday, as they continue their chase of a first league title since the 2021-22 season.
