Former Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has tipped Victor Osimhen to hit the ground running if he eventually makes the move to Arsenal in the summer.

The Super Eagles forward has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and speculations have intensified this summer with interest from Arsenal.
Andrea Berta, Arsenal sporting director was recently present at Galatasaray’s 3-0 win over Fenerbahce and reportedly met with the president of the Turkish champions.
Osimhen scored in that encounter, breaking the deadlock with an improvised finish, before Baris Alper Yilmaz and Lucas Torreira added further goals to complete the rout.
The Nigerian striker has also been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid and Barcelona, while Bayern Munich are also plotting an offer as they want him to be the long-term replacement for Harry Kane at the club.
The 27-year-old joined Galatasaray in a €75 million deal from Napoli last summer, after initially signing on loan in 2024 and has gone on to score 57 times for the club across all competitions.
Onazi backs Osimhen for Arsenal move
Ogenyi Onazi, who was among the 2013 AFCON winning team for Nigeria and played a major role in that tournament, has welcomed the increasing interest in Victor Osimhen heading into the transfer window.
The former Trabzonspor midfielder believes Osimhen is well equipped to shine in the Premier League and would make a notable contribution if the move to Arsenal eventually works.
“I trust Osimhen to make the right decision for himself regarding a move to the Premier League, and not just based on what people think”, Onazi revealed.
“However, personally, it would gladden me if he makes the move, as Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England and in the world.
“He will be a big hit in England, as he will fit into Arsenal’s system and cause a lot of problems for defenders with his power and pace. The Premier League is massive and followed worldwide, and it would be good for him to test himself elsewhere after his heroics in Italy and now in Turkey.
“It will be a tough decision because I know Galatasaray love him and the fans have also taken to him, but a move to Arsenal would be superb for him,” Onazi concluded.
Osimhen’s focus for now will be helping Galatasaray in their pursuit of a fourth straight league title, before a decision can now be made on his decision at the end of the season.
