Chelsea Set to Secure Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney as Pochettino Outlines Demands

According to reports, Chelsea is planning a dual acquisition strategy, targeting Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s efforts to bolster the team’s attacking options.

The Blues have faced scoring difficulties this season, failing to find the back of the net in any Premier League matches in September, despite the signings of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. Unfortunately, Nkunku suffered a severe knee injury during the preseason.

In light of this, Mauricio Pochettino is already looking ahead to the January transfer window, with Osimhen and Toney on his radar as potential additions, according to The Guardian.

Victor Osimhen’s future at Italy giant Napoli has been uncertain following the club’s release of a provocative TikTok video of the Nigerian player after he missed a penalty in a 0-0 draw against Bologna. His agent has indicated the possibility of taking legal action against Napoli over this incident.

Although, the video has been taken down and everything seems okay, with Victor Osimhen netting two goals after the TikTok video incident.

Meanwhile, Ivan Toney has been a subject of widespread speculation, expressing his desire for a “new challenge” in 2024 amid interest from London rivals Arsenal. Although he hasn’t played in the Premier League since May due to disciplinary issues related to betting, his eight-month ban is set to conclude in January. Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, has indicated they are open to a sale, with an £80 million price tag, as reported by the Evening Standard.

In the midst of these transfer discussions, Chelsea gaffer Mauricio Pochettino has stated he wants to play a more prominent role in the club’s transfer policy during his second transfer window with the team.

“The good thing is the relationship and communication is very good with the sporting directors and owners,”

“When the transfer window was closed I said I need to be more involved now in all the decisions. I have started to work to identify what we need for January.”

Pochettino told reporters.
