Amunike and Eguavoen are to take over the Super Eagles of Nigeria
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will allow Augustine Eguavoen to remain as the Super Eagles substantive coach with former Nigerian Winger, as his assistant.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will stick with Eguavoen as it was reported by the Daily Sun that the Nigeria Sports Minister Sunday Dare and the Nigeria Football Federation agreed at a meeting in Abuja over the future of the Super Eagles.
It was believed that the Portuguese man Jose Peseiro will take over from Eguavoen after the Afcon 2021, but after the exit of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the Round of 16, it was reported that the Minister voided the supposed appointment of Peseiro and ordered Eguavoen and Amunike to be drafted to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The NFF and The Nigerian Sports minister Sunday Dare in a Meeting agreed to give Augustine Eguavoen and his assignment Amunike a two-year contract with an improvement on his salary which was 3 million Naira.
Augustine Eguavoen led Nigerian to the round of 16 with an impressive showing in the group stage winning all three games.
Eguavoen became the only coach in Nigeria’s footballing History to have led the Super Eagles of Nigeria to 3/3 wins in the group stages and he’s done it twice.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will also slug it out with the Black Stars of Ghana in the final round of qualifying for a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
