AFC Toronto superstar Esther Okoronkwo has earned the club’s player of the month for September, SportPremi reports.

The Super Falcons star enjoyed a superb form in the month, where her brilliance inspired her team to successes in the league.
She finished the month with four goals and two assists from four matches for the league leaders, who have accrued 48 points from their first 24 league games.
The 28-year-old shone for Nigeria at the 2025 Women’s African Cup of Nations, contributing nine goals and assists as they claimed a record-extending 10th continental crown.

Esther Okoronkwo first scored in Toronto’s hard-earned win over Halifax, scoring her side’s only goal of the match.
She continued her fine form with two goals and one assist against Vancouver, before getting on the scoresheet for a third consecutive match in the month in a 1-1 draw against Halifax.

The versatile forward then bagged an assist as Toronto continued their fine form with a 1-0 win over Ottawa.
AFC Toronto is back in action when they face Montreal on Saturday, looking to consolidate their spot at the top of the standings.
Okoronkwo shines abroad
The 28-year-old had missed the previous edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations with an ACL injury, but finally made her long-awaited debut at the 2025 edition.
She inspired Nigeria to success and narrowly missed out on the player of the tournament award.
Okoronkwo has continued her fine form into the season with AFC Toronto, helping the club to their first-ever win in May when she scored twice in a 2-1 win over Calgary Wild.
The Super Falcons star’s focus will now be on securing the league title with her new side.
