On the early hours of Sunday, October 16, Former boxing heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder knocked out Robert Helenius in the first round with a thunderous punch, he made a winning return to boxing in Brooklyn, New York.
The 36-year-old American boxer was stepping into the ring for the first time since successive defeat to Tyson Fury last October.
Wilder and Helenius turned out to be a short fight at the Barclays Center, New York City United States of America.
Helenius tried to make Wilder uncomfortable by working the jab severally but with the first round about to end Helenius was caught on a counter punch.
Helenius was unable to get up from such a thunderous strike as the referee called off the fight upon the knockdown.
After the fight against Helenius, Wilder in the ring interview called out reigning WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Wilder also spoke about the possibility of fighting Andy Ruiz who defeated Luiz Ortiz in a WBC eliminator.
“I’m down for whatever. Whether it’s Andy Ruiz or Oleksandr Usyk. Deontay Wilder is back, the excitement in the heavyweight division is back.”
