Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo sent off after appearing to elbow an opponent in the chest

What happened?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s disciplinary struggles continues this season with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. He received a red card during a crucial match against league leaders Al-Hilal, where he was seen elbowing his opponent twice while Al-Nassr trailed 2-0 in the 86th minute. Also, Ronaldo’s behavior hinted at a potential confrontation with the referee, signaling further trouble.

Last month, Ronaldo faced consequences for his actions, receiving a fine and a two-game ban. This came after he grabbed his genitals and gestured to the crowd in response to hearing them chant his football rival Lionel Messi’s name at him.

Following an incident where his foot was stepped on, the former Real Madrid and Man United forward reacted poorly by attempting to elbow his opponent twice, resulting in his sending off. As he made his way off the field, Ronaldo sarcastically applauded the crowd and the referee.

From the reverse angle captured by fans online, it appears that the Portugal legend raised his arm towards the referee after being sent off, creating the impression that he might have struck the official. However, he showed restraint and refrained from doing so.

Al Nassr manager commented on Cristiano Ronaldo’s sending off

Al Nassr manager Luis Castro was really angry about the decision to send off his best player.

“It is difficult to talk about the incident in which Ronaldo received the red card, and we saw several clips earlier in the season in which Ronaldo was provoked, and after seeing some of the pictures Ronaldo did not do anything that deserved to be sent off, and the opposing player acted,”

The contact was small between Cristiano and the opponent’s defender. He made a play. The video referee was supposed to call the match referee to watch the clip of the expulsion.”
