Cimbom took a giant step towards securing a fourth consecutive Turkish Super Lig title after thrashing their rivals in Sunday’s Istanbul derby at the Rams Park.

The game was billed as a potential title-decider and Galatasaray took advantage of their opponent’s fragilities to seal a win that now extends their lead at the top of the standings to seven points, with only three games left this season.

However, Trabzonspor face Konyaspor on Monday and could see their gap reduced, although they will still be confident of clinching the title.

Osimhen, making his first start in over a month due to injury, opened the scoring in the first half after Fenerbahce had missed a penalty kick when Anderson Talisca fired wide from 12 yards.

Baris Alper Yilmaz added a second from the spot kick for Galatasaray, before Lucas Torreira complete the scoring late on to seal the emphatic win.

What Osimhen said after Galatasaray defeat Fenerbahce

Victor Osimhen led Galatasaray from the front with his relentless pressing and scored the opener with an improvised finish, putting the ball past Ederson with the help of his knee in the 40th minute.

Speaking after the match, he expressed delight at his side’s performance and also stated his commitment to scoring more goals for the club.

“We disappointed our fans in the game there. I’m proud of the game we’re putting together with the team right now, and I’m happy about the win”, Osimhen said.

“You know, I believe I can score against any team. If luck comes, it’s my job, and I think I’m doing it well. I’ve said that many times, but I won’t be tired of saying it. I’ll say it over and over again.

“This club is a club that deserves my love and respect with its management, the coach, the fans and everyone around her. As long as I have the chance, I want to protect this coat of arms in every way. I’m really saying that from my heart.

“I want to fight every game in the best way, willingly, and I always want to protect this coat of arms. I also want to fight for my teammates,” Osimhen concluded.

Galatasaray can now seal the title, which would mark their fourth successive win, when they face Samsunspor in their next match on Saturday.
