Galatasaray forward Baris Alper Yilmaz has expressed admiration for teammate Victor Osimhen, after the Super Eagles star handed him a penalty in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Fenerbahce.
Cimbom recorded a 3-0 result over their rivals in Sunday’s Istanbul derby to move closer to winning the league title, following their seven-point lead with only three matches remaining.
Osimhen had opened the scoring in the 40th minute of the clash with a good finish, before Galatasaray were then handed a penalty kick which gave them the opportunity to double their advantage.

Normally, Osimhen would have taken the kick, but he passed the ball to Yilmaz who had only scored once in his last 11 appearances for the club.
The Turkish winger then dispatched the resulting kick to double Galatasaray’s advantage, before Lucas Torreira completed the rout later in the game.

Speaking after the match, Yilmaz applauded the selfless act of Osimhen and has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to grind out a result in their next match and clinch the league title.
“We’re so happy. I congratulate my teammates. We are doing our best to reach our 4th straight championship title”, Yilmaz said.
“It’s not over yet, we’re going to Samsun. I’m not the kind of kid who shies away from his responsibilities.
“I want to contribute to my team. I told Osimhen how I felt, we had our names on the penalty, and he told me to go for it. He’s a very valuable player. It adds a lot to us”, he concluded.
Galatasaray now head to Samsunspor in their next league outing on Saturday, knowing that a win would seal a fourth consecutive Turkish Super Lig title for them.
