Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has taken a swipe at Fenerbahce after he helped Galatasaray to an emphatic 3-0 win in the Istanbul derby on Sunday.

The Turkish champions took a bold step towards another successful title defence when they thrashed their rivals in a statement performance, moving them seven points clear at the top of the table with only three games left this season.
Fenerbahce had laid out a complaint ahead of the game to stop Osimhen from playing in the clash with concerns over his arm protector, but were dismissed by the Turkish Football Federation.
Ironically, it was Osimhen who opened the scoring with a good finish in the 40th minute, coming after Talisca had missed from 12 yards for Fenerbahce, dragging his penalty kick wide of the goal post.
Osimhen had a chance to double the tally when Galatasaray were awarded a penalty of their own, but the Nigerian forward passed the ball on to Baris Alper Yilmaz, who dispatched the kick comfortably.
Lucas Torreira completed the scoring late in the game to seal a commanding 3-0 result and put Galatasaray on the brink of a fourth consecutive league title.
Osimhen aims dig at Fenerbahce
Speaking after the match, Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, who grabbed his 20th goal of the campaign across all competitions, spoke proudly about his team’s dominance in the encounter.
“After losing in the cup, we needed to prepare more ambitiously”, Osimhen said.
“We talked in the locker room, said this match is behind us, and motivated ourselves. Our coach also motivated us. In the last 3 training sessions, we fought really well. The trainings were even more ambitious, more eager, and more exhausting than this match.
“With all due respect to the opponent; we got less tired in this match than in training. As Galatasaray, we want to continue like this until the end of the season”, he added.
Galatasaray will now have a golden chance to clinch the league title when they head to Samsunspor in their next match on Saturday, needing just a win to secure their fourth straight league triumph.
