There was a dramatic stoppage time when the referee sent off Arsenal’s Gabriel for kicking Leeds striker Patrick Bamford and awarded Leeds United a penalty. Still, both decisions were overturned after Kavanagh reviewed the situation.
After the resumption of the game, Arsenal was quick to establish its presence and was rewarded in the 35th minute when Bukayo Saka scored with an assist from the captain, Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal went to the halftime break with the lead and would begin the second in a shaky manner. Leeds had lots of chances to score but couldn’t convert them.
Before the stoppage time, there was a controversy. Leeds were awarded a penalty when William Saliba was adjudged to have handled the ball with his hand, but Bamford wasted the chance by placing the ball wide.
Though Leeds fought until the end, Arsenal managed to claim their fourth clean sheet away from home.
The Gunners held on to claim all three points and stay top of the Premier League for another matchday.
