There was a dramatic stoppage time when the referee sent off Arsenal’s Gabriel for kicking Leeds striker Patrick Bamford and awarded Leeds United a penalty, but both decisions were overturned after Kavanagh reviewed the situation.
After resumption of the game, Arsenal were quick to establish their presence in the game and were rewarded in the 35th minute when Bukayo Saka scored through and assist from the captain, Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal went to the halftime break with the lead and would begin the second in a shaky manner, Leeds had lots of chances to score but couldn’t convert their chances.
Before the stoppage-time there was a controversy, Leeds were awarded a penalty when William Saliba was adjudged to have handled the ball with his hand, but Bamford wasted the chance by placing ball wide.
Though Leeds fought until the end, Arsenal managed to claim their fourth clean sheet away from home.
The Gunners held on to claim all three points and stay top of the Premier League for another matchday.
