Maduka Okoye has reiterated his dedication to the Super Eagles, expressing his desire to achieve long-term success with the national team.

The Udinese goalkeeper was absent from the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament, but made his return to the team ahead of their internationally friendlies against Iran and Jordan in March.
Okoye was born in Germany, but was chosen by Nigeria and made his debut for the senior national team in October 2019 when he came on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against Brazil.

The 26-year-old has made 19 appearances for the Super Eagles so far, with three coming at the African Cup of Nations in 2021, where he was part of the squad that was eliminated at the Round of 16 stage by Tunisia.
However, he lost his spot in the team to Stanley Nwabali, who has been the country’s first-choice goalkeeper since 2024.
This season, he has been a mainstay in Udinese’s squad as they currently sit 10th on the standings and on course for a top 10 finish.
Okoye has made 24 appearances so far this season, after missing the early part of the campaign due to suspension for betting related offences.
What Maduka Okoye said about Super Eagles recall
Okoye, who enjoyed an impressive outing for Udinese in their last outing against AC Milan when they recorded a shock 3-0 win, has expressed delight over his recall and is aiming to help the Super Eagles to success on a long term.
“I was so pleased to be called up to the national team”, Okoye said.
“It’s important to me as a player and as a person. I want to return many more times.”
Okoye will be hoping for another call-up for the Super Eagles in May and June when they compete in the Unity Cup and also face Poland and Portugal in two high-profile friendly matches.
