Paul Onuachu returns to training in major boost for Trabzonspor

Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu took part in first-team training for Trabzonspor on Thursday, after recovering from a short injury layoff.

The 31-year-old suffered a minor injury last week and was a huge miss as Trabzonspor dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Alanyaspor as their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League hit a major setback.

The Nigerian forward has been a key part of the squad since his return to the club last summer and has scored 24 goals across all competitions, including 22 in the league as he tops the golden boot charts with only a few games remaining.

Onuachu has also scored 11 goals and provided one assist in his last 10 league appearances for Trabzonspor, who have put their stamp on the third spot with 64 points, two points behind Fenerbahce in second place and four behind Galatasaray in first place.

Onuachu injury boost for Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor have been handed a major boost ahead of a tough test this weekend when they face fifth-placed Istanbul Basaksehir, as they hope to close the gap to the top two.

Onuachu was greatly missed last weekend, as they dropped points which dealt a major blow to their title hopes and hopes of reaching the Champions League.

With the Super Eagles forward now back in training and ready to start this weekend, Trabzonspor will fancy their chances of sealing an important result from the clash as they hope to close the gap on the top two at the top of the standings.
